January 18, 2001 Brademas, Iklé, Lugar, and Solarz Receive Democracy Service Medal
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) presented its Democracy Service Medal to John Brademas, Fred Iklé, Richard Lugar and Stephen Solarz in recognition of their nine years of service on the NED Board of Directors, and for their outstanding contributions to the cause of democracy.
January 7-8, 2001 Making Democracy Work: Accountability and Transparency
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), in cooperation with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), hosted the inaugural conference of the Asian Center for Democratic Governance in New Delhi, India.
November 12-15, 2000 Confronting the Challenges to Democracy in the 21st Century
World Movement for Democracy's Second Global Assembly in São Paulo, Brazil. The meeting brought together some 400 democracy activists, practitioners, and scholars from a wide variety of countries to address some of the toughest challenges to building and strengthening democracy around the world.
